Dr. Felix Fischer

Dr. Felix Fischer is a German sports scientist and practitioner whose work sits at the intersection of sports medicine, performance systems, and digital product development, with a specific expertise in ACL injury management and criteria-based return-to-play (RTP) decision-making. Alongside applied football experience, he has built a parallel career in health-performance innovation and product ownership, translating scientific and medical frameworks into scalable systems, processes, and tools.

He is currently a Product Owner at the Zentrales Knochenmarkspender-Register Deutschland (ZKRD) in Ulm (March 2025–present), where his remit centres on building and delivering an IT product strategy aligned to organisational goals and regulatory requirements. In this role, he leads strategic prioritisation of a development portfolio, creates and communicates roadmaps with defined milestones and success criteria, and coordinates execution across stakeholders spanning IT, science, regulatory bodies, and operational teams. His responsibilities also include building interdisciplinary product teams, strengthening cross-functional delivery, developing international cooperation networks with research and industry partners, and contributing within international working groups focused on standards and guideline development.

In parallel, he is the Founder of 4drei3 (September 2023–present) in Neu-Ulm, a bureau for sport, movement, and health that delivers movement concepts, prevention and individual health support, and corporate health promotion. The 4drei3 project also includes a football school offering weekly development training, small-group and individual coaching, athletic development, camps, school programmes, and ball-school provision for young players in the Ulm/Neu-Ulm region.

Before moving into his current product leadership role, Fischer spent almost seven years at FitX Verwaltung GmbH in the Ruhr region. From November 2019 to September 2024, he worked as a Sport Scientist and Corporate Health Manager, responsible for building, strategically developing, and operationally delivering structured corporate health management programmes (internally and via external consultancy). His work included designing, implementing, and evaluating health interventions, delivering workshops and health days across movement, nutrition, and mental-health themes, running employee surveys including psychosocial risk assessments, improving workplace ergonomics, delivering targeted movement and recovery sessions, performing health diagnostics, and collaborating with insurers, social security partners, and research institutions. Earlier at FitX (January 2018–December 2019), he operated as a Sport Scientist within a training concept team, combining applied science with digital product development by designing and evaluating evidence-based programmes (athletic development, endurance, prevention, regeneration), building manuals and education materials, contributing to an app for individualised training guidance, and delivering testing and diagnostics frameworks that supported both participation and performance contexts.

In elite youth football, he has held roles within academy performance departments, most notably at SSV Ulm 1846 Fußball (July 2020–June 2022). Across this period he served as an Athletics and Rehabilitation Coach within the NLZ, supporting U15–U17 and specifically U16/U17 squads through athletic development, screening and diagnostics, load management, and structured rehab and return-to-play processes. His work included integrating athletic content into football training, coordinating closely with medical staff and coaches, documenting training and development through tracking tools and databases, and building athlete self-regulation skills. He also worked as an Athletics Coach at VfL Bochum 1848’s academy (July 2018–June 2019), focusing on athletic training delivery across U12–U15 age groups within a performance-development environment.

Academically, he completed an MSc in Sport and Movement Science at the University of Innsbruck, and holds a Dr. phil. from the Private University for Health Sciences, Medical Informatics and Technology, aligning his profile with applied sport medicine and performance-related health disciplines. He also holds the DFB A-Licence (UEFA A-Level), issued in October 2017, underlining strong coaching competence alongside his medical-performance focus.
