Nuno Cardoso is a Portuguese coach and performance specialist with a career rooted in youth development and the integration of analysis and physical preparation into soccer-specific training. With experience across Portugal’s leading academies and international work in China, his profile is defined by game-related physical training—helping players become physically ready for the tactical demands of modern football.
Nuno’s foundation was built at Sport Lisboa e Benfica, where he spent a decade (2008–2018) progressing through key youth roles. He began as an Assistant Coach with the U14, U16, and U17 age groups, before moving into a more performance-focused position as a Sport Performance Analyst within Benfica LAB and the U17 programme (2014–2018). This period shaped his ability to connect video-led insights with training design, ensuring physical development and technical-tactical learning are aligned on the pitch.
In 2018, he moved to China as a Strength & Conditioning Coach at Shandong Luneng (2018–2020), working within a youth-focused environment and contributing to the physical development framework in an international academy setting. He then returned to Portugal to join Sporting Clube de Portugal (2020–2024) as an Assistant Coach, where he worked within the B team environment, supporting player transition and development under the coaching leadership of Filipe Çelikkaya.
Most recently, Nuno has continued his performance analysis work as an Analista de desempenho at Rio Ave FC (July 2025–present), reinforcing his dual strength in coaching and analysis.
Educated at Instituto Jean Piaget (Portugal) and fluent in Portuguese and English, Nuno brings a practical, development-driven approach to coaching. His specialist area—game-related physical training in elite soccer—focuses on making physical preparation meaningful: integrating conditioning within tactical tasks, using analysis to guide training objectives, and supporting young players to meet the speed, intensity, and repeat-effort demands of the modern game.
